You know I can't resist a low-key, rustic wedding, and if you're anything like me, then you're going to love today's feature, shot by the talented Jen Fariello.
With a number of guests traveling from around the country and even other countries, Kristin and Dan wanted to create an easy going weekend for their guests. The Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing in Virginia was the perfect venue for their April wedding. Almost all of the guests stayed at the camp in rustic cabins, and some even camped out. Before the ceremony, about half of the guests did the zip line at the camp!
Kristin wore a dress by Augusta Jones.
Hedge Fine Blooms made the bouquets for Kristin and her sister.
Kristin and her friend, Dana, made all of the paper items themselves, mostly using a Gocco printer, and printed on paper from Paper Source. Dana designed the flower motif that was repeated on all of the various pieces.
Kristin's necklace, earrings and hair comb were all made by her friend Dana.
The afternoon ceremony was held in a field with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Kristin's three brothers wore kilts (as a nod to Dan's heritage) and walked her down the aisle. Kristin and Dan wrote their vows, and the ceremony included readings by two friends, as well as Tim O'Brien's "One Drop of Rain" sung by another friend.
A post-ceremony "cocktail hour" were held at the lodge, a five minute walk from the ceremony site, and the reception was held in a pavilion up the hill from the lodge.
The camp catered the entire weekend, from a Friday night barbecue to the wedding reception on Saturday to a Sunday southern brunch. Drinks were served in jam jars.
Kristin and her sister made all of the centerpieces themselves, filling clusters of vintage vases, tea cups or jam jars with white flowers or candles. Squares of Amy Butler "Dancing Mums" fabric added color to the tables.
An old-time bluegrass band, the JugBusters played two-stepping and flat-footing songs at the reception, as well as waltzes and called square dances. They got all of the guests dancing well into the evening!
