Though she and Matt now live in New York City, Maggie grew up in Oregon, and always dreamed of showing her East Coast friends what a special place the Northwest is. Their wedding provided the perfect opportunity!
Maggie says, When we got engaged, I was determined to find a place that captured what I love about Oregon: the evergreens, the open skies, the layers of mountains and hills, good wine, beautiful produce, and of course, perfect summer weather. Every time I brought Matt to Oregon, we'd visited a vineyard or two, so we were hoping to find one that wasn't too far from Portland where we could throw a beautiful celebration without too much fuss.
I think the photos say it all - a gorgeous Oregon vineyard wedding, with sweet details and minimal fuss...

The first time Matt came with my family for a summer vacation in the Northwest, he couldn't believe that there were wild blackberries growing everywhere (they're actually an invasive species, but delicious). He couldn't stop picking and eating them (and sacrificed a pair of jeans to the thorns). So it felt right to include some blackberries in the wedding: fresh local berries between the layers of the cake, ripe and unripe berries on vines woven into the table centerpieces, and images of berries on our invitations and programs. Maggie is a graphic designer, so she designed the invitations, and had them screen printed by Sarah Parrott.

At the center of the ceremony was a ketubah Maggie and Matt wrote themselves, a text which discussed what strengths and talents each of them brings to the relationship, and how they envision their lives together.

The August wedding took place at Garden Vineyards, with about 90 guests in attendance.

Maggie wore a dress by Jessica McClintock, and paired it with comfy gold shoes and a string of pearls given to her by her grandmother. Matt borrowed a tuxedo from his father.

All of the flowers were arranged by Adria at Lavish Flora. Centerpieces incorporated local wild blackberries!

From Maggie: I love to cook and keep a food and recipe blog, so we spent quite a bit of time thinking about the menu. We wanted to meal to celebrate the Northwest: there was a salad with candied hazelnuts, local fish with tomatoes and olives on top, and wine and sangria made from the grapes growing a few yards from the dinner tables! The cake had Oregon blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries cooked into the batter and stuffed between the layers as well. Next to it stood a little clay version of us, made by my grandmother, a sculptor. Catering by Art of Catering. Cake by Melissa at Sweet Cakes.

Congratulations Maggie and Matt! Thanks so much for sending your sweet wedding our way, and best wishes to the two of you. And thank you to Eric Cable for sharing these lovely photos with Snippet & Ink.
