I've been wanting to share a wedding shot by Carrie Patterson with you all for the longest time, so I'm excited to have that chance today! Sara and Ryan had such a lovely destination wedding in Jackson Hole, with great classic elements, incredible natural beauty, and darling DIY details...

Sara wore Monique Lhuillier's Celestine dress.

The lovely daisy pomanders were a DIY project for the bride. Sara shares some of the design choices: We based our color-scheme and theme off natural elements like grass, flowers, clouds, trees, leaves and stones and tried to incorporate as many of them into the wedding as we could. Our invitations were engraved in wood, our escort cards were river stones, we made serving trays out of slices of tree trunks, my dress was cloud-like, we had branches, wildflowers and ivy everywhere.

The bridesmaids each wore a different green dress of their choosing.

After the ceremony, Sara traded her veil for a flower by Etsy vendor, Powder Blue Bijoux.
Sara shares one of her favorite parts of the day: I think one of the biggest surprises was the unexpected incorporation of horses into the wedding. We surprised all of our guests with Ryan coming up the hill to the ceremony on Blondie, a beautiful palomino, and the guitarist playing the Rawhide song! It was so western and cute. The horses talked to each other quite a bit during the ceremony, which was hilarious and kept me from bawling a few times. But it was a complete surprise to everyone (myself included) that all the horses would be released from the barn right after they announced us husband and wife to run through the field behind us as we made our way up the aisle. It was a very classic and romantic moment. Once our guests returned to the patios at the Lazy Moose, there were buckets of carrots there to feed the horses. Everyone really got a kick out of that maybe were all city folk, but the horses stole the show! And, of course, our pictures wouldnt be complete without one of Ryan and I with Blondie. She was quite the ham!

The wedding took place at The Lazy Moose Ranch. Though it was not where the couple originally planned to get married, it was absolutely perfect. Sara tells the story of how they ended up booking Lazy Moose: "Five months before the wedding, due to a change in ownership, our original venue was no longer available and we began the hunt for another available location. Sight unseen we booked the Lazy Moose and could not be happier with our decision. Not only was the ranch even more beautiful and intimate than the original venue, we felt like we gained new friends in owners Robin and Cherrie Siegfried, who take great pride in their gorgeous ranch and took amazing care of us and our day."

Jan Kew at Creative Botanicals (307-739-9092) arranged all of the flowers.

Sara designed and printed the menus herself. The meal was a twist on classic Jackson Hole food, including elk egg rolls, smoked gouda quesadillas with barbecue creme fraiche, and bison strip loin with horseradish mashed potatoes. Catering by Bistro Catering.

One of the couple's DIY projects was making boutonnieres from flies that Ryan tied himself. Sara tells us, "Since Jackson Hole is a fly-fishing mecca and Ryan is a beyond-obsessed fly-fisherman, we incorporated a lot of fly-fishing details to represent his love of the sport (the cake topper is a bride catching a groom on a fly rod, Ryan tied flies as boutonnieres, his cufflinks were tiny fly reels)."

Cake by Jackson Cake Company.

Congratulations Sara and Ryan! What an absolutely beautiful day - it's no wonder your guests are asking you to plan another trip to Jackson Hole next summer! A big thank you to Carrie Patterson for sharing these beautiful photos with us - if you haven't checked out her blog, be sure to spend some time there. It always makes me wish I was in the mountains...
